As part of their Design and Build phase, the Equality Fund in collaboration with AWID, organized three in-person convenings and many virtual discussions with over 1000 activists in over 45 countries to answer the question: Can we collectively imagine and build a funding ecosystem where feminist movements are funded as bravely as the work they do?
The recommendations on grant-making, investment, philanthropy, governance and accountability were compiled into the comprehensive ‘Shared Hopes’ report that I worked on illustrating, designing and visualising. Though these recommendations were primarily aimed at Equality Fund, they are relevant to a full range of funders as they explore how to fund feminist movements and build accountability, among other key questions and issues.
Using Equality Fund’s colours, I created a series of patterns fusing colour, geometry and motifs to reflect the concepts and recommendations, and combined them with illustrations to create the 60 page report.
