A collaborative endeavour with Rima Athar and Liy Yusof, this publication illustrates conversations & reflections on building a framework for action on holistic well-being for activists, which emerged at the CARE Regional Synthesis Meeting organised by CSBR | the Coalition for Sexual and Bodily Rights in Muslim Societies, and APTN | the Asia Pacific Transgender Network, in Chiang Mai in November 2018.
In an effort to recreate the atmosphere from the meeting that was one of reflection and solidarity while embodying community care, we thought of the various ways to make the feeling of that space tangible through the format of a book.
The final methodology used for the visuals was that of collages. The idea was to juxtapose found images with newly created illustrations to weave a tapestry representing the kind of safe space that was created during the meeting to share, heal and grow. The publication also visualises some important moments from the meeting, giving participants a chance to revisit their memories while browsing the publication.
