No Straight Lines for FRIDA
FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund is the only youth-led fund focused exclusively on supporting young feminist activism to advance social justice movements and agendas across the globe. Based on its work over nearly a decade, FRIDA consolidated its knowledge and expertise from engaging with INGOs and funders on how they can work with and support young feminist organisers for transformation.
The publication was created as a collaboration between outgoing FRIDA co-executive directors Devi Leiper O’Malley and Ruby Johnson, Mexican web designer Diana Rubio and myself. I worked with Devi, Ruby and Diana to visualise the theme of “tapestries” and created a limited colour palette and illustrative style to work with. The idea for the microsite home page was to use patchwork quilts as a visual guide to convey the importance of collaboration and togetherness. Since patchwork quilts also happen to be part an integral part of many cultures across the countries FRIDA works in, we thought it would also be a nice way to acknowledge this part of our shared histories.
The project included working with the web designer on an illustrated home page, creating social media graphics driven by illustrations and adapting the microsite for a downloadable publication. Select images from the project are presented below.
The microsite can be viewed here: No Straight Lines by FRIDA.
