“Connecting the Unconnected: Supporting community networks and other community-based connectivity initiatives” is a project being implemented by APC in partnership with Rhizomatica that aims to directly support the development of community networks.
As part of an online LOCNET Convening, community network peers had a chance and the space to connect and share successes, challenges and resources among other things. During the Latin America regional thematic discussions, the peers participated in a community storytelling workshop where started with ‘Once upon a time’ and then took turns building on the story of a community network, one after another.
I worked on visualising and interpreting this story in the form of a comic. Using images that the peers had shared during the convening, stories that they’d written and feelings they’d described, I created visual metaphors and moments with colour, texture and motifs to accompany the text.
